Overview: OSEA Maya Immersion Language Field School

OSEA Intensive Maya Immersion Program is combines LANGUAGE IMMERSION in Maya speaking communities & families with intensive CLASSROOM based LEARNING that exceeds the minimum standards of the US Dept. Education for teaching Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTL). The OSEA Maya program is not for the armchair learner.

OSEA Maya program is ideal for persons wanting to gain high levels of communicative proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Maya. This program is for those who want to speak Maya fluently as well as to conduct fieldwork in Maya.

APPLICATION Deadline & Fees

Applications are Accepted starting February 25 of each year

Application Fee: $27 by Paypal
Registration Fee $150 by check

Registration Fee is not deposited unless Applicant is accepted into the program. Registration Fee is non-refundable if there is a cancelation of participation in the program.
This Fee guarantees participation and enrollement on roster.

Notification of Acceptance into the Intensive Maya Immersion Program within 5 days of receipt of the Complete Application Package

Applications are Accepted until Roster is filled. Enrollment is limited to 4 students per course level of Maya

Complete Application consists of:
⇒ Online Application Form for Maya Immersion
⇒ Online Spanish Self-Assessment Form
⇒ Online Letter of Recommendation Form
⇒ Online FLAS Eligibility Form
⇒ Transcripts sent by mail or as email attachment
⇒Optional: Online Spanish Evaluation Form by 3rd Person
⇒ Application Fee of $27 via Paypal
⇒ Registration Fee of $100 by personal or cashier's check mailed to OSEA. This non-refundable check is only deposited when Applicant has been accepted into the program

Late Fee on Payment of Balance: $150
If paid within seven (7) days past of due date

Additional Late Fee charges of $75 per every additional seven days late payment in order to maintain enrollment

In cases of lack of payment of balance, OSEA assumes that the applicant has chosen to cancel participation and forfeit their non-refundable Registration Fee.

If the lack of timely payment according to this official schedule is due to extraordinary and contingent circumstances related to the disbursement of grants or other emergency factors, waivers of Late Fees can be requested. Please contact OSEA Director Quetzil Castañeda, quetzil@osea-cite.org if such a siutation presents itself. Please keep OSEA informed on the timeline of your expected receipt of a grant upon which your participation is dependent. Thank you!
