Program Costs
$3,575 for 9 credits, 2006

Program Costs Include:
All lodging except during mid-program break, breakfasts and lunches during week and during weekends (unless participant travels off-location during weekend). Travel in Yucatan for program purposes between Mérida, Pisté, and Playa for program purposes is included. Entrance fees to Chichén Itzá and Tulum are included. A major portion of the reading materials is covered and provided in electronic format; however, not all course readings are included such as books that must be purchased before arrival and reading materials that must be purchased on-site.

Lodging and Meals. Costs are based on Shared Rooms in family run hotels and posadas ("pensiones"). OSEA has a tradition of working with Luz en Yucatán (Mérida), Posada Olalde (Pisté) and Hotel Casa Tucan (Playa del Carmen). Program changes in lodging and meals are susceptible to last minutes changes. Meals and eating arrangements vary according to location. Breakfasts items are purchased and consumed in the posada with use of kitchen/kitchenette service. Lunchs are taken with family-run loncherias and are the main meal of the day.. Meals are based on traditional Yucatecan diets with lunch as the main meal of the day.

Transcripts: Participants receive an official transcripts from OSEA and the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán for nine credits of upper level or graduate course work in three courses.

Incidental Expenses Not Included

  • International and regional travel to and from Mérida, Yucatán for program start and end dates
  • Personal expenses, personal supplies, books, and some course materials
  • Expenses and activities during mid-program break
  • Personal health insurance (requiered for participation)
  • Personal research equipment and supplies necessary for program participation

    Students may apply online through our online application. See our Apply section for complete Application information. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants. We recommend applying early to secure your participation in the program

    Early Application Deadline is April 10, 2006.Applications are accepted on rolling basis of first come, first served until enrollment is filled. Completed applications are processed within 7 working days of receipt of all materials, including application fee. The OSEA Application fee is $32 and may be submitted online.

    Late Applications: Late applications are accepted on a rolling basis from April 11 through June 2, 2006.

    A formal letter of acceptance is provided which can be used to request funding from third-party sources to support participation in the OSEA program. Please direct any questions, or to determine your suitability for the program, to OSEA's Director, Dr. Quetzil Castañeda.
