OSEA Programs provide the educational experience and field methodologies that you need to engage today's world of global interconnectivity and dynamic exchange.
As part of our desire to adapt to new contexts, envision alternative practices, and expand our services, OSEA is initiating one-on-one work with persons seeking to develop a customized, independent study program. In consultation with OSEA Director and teaching staff we design a program that best fits your needs and interests. Possible program components include:
Fieldwork independent research that can be structured as a project that participant learns to design theirself or as a practicum in which experience in distinct methods is attained.
Internships or Service Learning components, based with work with Maya communities, national and international NGOs, civil associations, social and political institutions, tourism businesses, medical practitioners whether alternative or western, self-help organizations or other groups, OSEA can place you where you need to be learning through practical action and experience.
Coursework component that is individually designed with OSEA teaching staff to provide you the intellectual resources you need to understand an area of investigation or action. Coursework can be provided in any number of suitable formats, such as seminars, workshops, forums, practicums, or in the field practicums.
Research component can be designed along traditional academic lines of a study of some problem or it can be fashioned as project in applied research, community based action research, client based practice research according to your goals and learning objectives.
